156/365 - Traveling the Sea of Knowledge on Flickr.
I wrote three essays today which partly made my brain leak through my ears and partly robbed me of my will to live…
At some point I explored the possibility of never studying anything ever again…
Then I thought : NAAAAAAAAAH !!!!
Now curled in bed with my beloved Julles Verne I can hear the siren song of Academia and know that I would one day die with a book in my hand scribbling some new found knowledge on a scrap of parchment…
Study is suffering and I am addicted to its agony!
Things wot happen on nah shelves #3993390421173599 growing up is for losers !!!
118/365 - Sherlock - the Wilde Side. on Flickr.
I bashed heads with a particularly slippery essay all day and just when I was about to throw up my hands and go OY VEY FUCKITALL!!! a friend I have not seen for far too long came for a flying yet splendiferous visit thus saving me from the clutches if Ennui …
But in all the excitement and coffee indulgence I forgot to take a picture for today and after bemoaning my failing in Facebook … For what other purpose does that platform exist… A friend suggested I shall represent the day fopping by the window… When I pointed out that due to far too much coffee I am now palpitating in a less than dandyish manner attired in my pyjamas he quickly answered: ” well, I guess in that case it is gay porn time… AGAIN.”
I love the way his brain works.
So here you have it. A pile of BlueBoy Library vintage gay smut, topped by a Sherlickian vintage gay hilarity and fronted by Sherlock Holmes and Oscar Wilde … In Martini Glasses… Because… SHUDDUP!
125/365 - At Home with Books. on Flickr.
Stay indoors … And bed on account of non stop rain and my mum sciatic nerves doing something odd to her hip… I periodically venture down stairs to brew some tea, boil an egg and answer the door to the mailman as he presents me with bookish goodness…
Here are the books that came to live in my house today… So … OK! The G.D. Falksen came here few days ago (SHUDDUP!) but it is lush … Lush enough for me to buy it TWICE, as I had it for mah kindle when I was unleashed on the streets of Korea. But lush it was and so I ordered it yet again in solid form purely so I can sniff it and have it languish decadently on my shelf looking beautiful…
As I am a shit liar I confess I use guidebooks for when I get utterly stuck in a game. As I am possibly the person with the worst aim in the world (the Israeli Army would attest to my inability to tell one side of an M16 to another… It is a miracle I still have a head I tell you… Although YES the actual definition of HEAD might not apply to what I have housing try so called brain in it… Errr… Too much absinthe in my youth!) I end up often getting rather elegantly stuck playing Bioshock… Or any first person shooter… Or platformer… Thank goodness for RPG and simulation/ strategy games for they restore my sense of gamer-ego to its former glory!
Hence - game guide to Bioshock… Also mighty pretty I may add although BOO for the sparseness of Lutece images… BOO AND EVEN HISS I SAY!
Gord the Rouge because I collect TSR novels and even read them
To my shame… If I had any shame. Which I don’t and to that will attest my ability to dress in my best tweeds and go sit under a tree in the park with a picnic and read HARLEQUIN ROMANCE !!!
It is not actually a TSR book but it IS a Gary Gygax and it is set in Greyhawk and feature the early adventure of Gord the Rogue who later became a TSR dude … So… THERE!
Now off to catalogue these on LibraryThing… The inner librarian goes SQUEE!!=^_^=
119/365 - Thermo-Chick Cool Reading. on Flickr.
Thermo-Chick likes the heat of the palm of your hands very much. So much that he chirps happily. He also likes how hot and steamy this novel is. The third in a series of hot and steamy novels.
Thermo chick does not approve of how awesome leading lady summons ice because ice is cold and he does not chirp when it is cold.
I approve of it however because awesome leading lady is very VERY awesome… And her estranged husband is so angsty and broody and smouldering you can crack an egg on his scarred chest and make an omelette… Leading lady has other ideas though… Partly culinary and partly … Spicy… But not in an I SHALL EAT YOU way…. Actually you could apply certain metaphors and argue that since he is delicious and clan be devoured in … Ways…. Then… OH GO HOME ALEADY AND STOP THINKING DIRTY!!!
25/365 - Beam Me Up Mr. Bond on Flickr.
It is true. I sneak to the back of charity shop so I can scavenge their bins for books with no hope but the pulping machine… Today 12 mostly James Bond books were rescued by yours truly… 15 years ago a charity shop in North London left the first ever 12 Star Trek novels to melt in the rain. Lamasu - giving home to destitute books so they don’t have to fall into drugs and prostitution…
BOOK LOVE! BOOK LOVE GALORE! BOOK LOVE WANTS MORE!!!
So indeedie. I enjoy this second instalment muchly!!!
So many things I can say about the things that go boom, about the tea, about the London smog, about the cogs and gears and the men with moustaches. About balls of electricity that mysteriously abduct suffragettes…which made me go - WOAH! TESLA HAS ANOTHER ORGAZM!!! But this would not be an appropriate comment… Nor appropriate thoughts regarding my sexual obsession with a man who wanted nothing to do with women…or any sex apparently… Boo to that because he was hot… And electric… Badum…errr… Tish?
Anyway this book was for me all about the greatest collection of THE BEST FEMALE CHARACTERS KNOWN TO HUMANITY!!!
OMIGODDESS! So much kick-assry! I almost turned for at least three women NOT INCLUDING THE BATSHIT CRAZY LEADING LADY!!! Wow! She was so not a Buffy cliche. She even weArs a bust a couple of times and yet SHE BLOWS THINGS UP AND STABS THINGS AND RIDES A STEAM MOTORBIKE OFF A CLIFF INTO AN AIRSHIP I FUCKING ALMOST DIED FROM THE AWESOME OMG THIS IS THE WORST REVIEW I EVER WROTE!!!
So anyway. There is that super cool Italian crazy assassin lady who was brilliant in the first novel. And there is this insanely awesome crime lord lady …. Errrr… Yeah… With her own army of mechanic winged assassin thief and a penchant for diamonds and pink undergarments.
And you know what? This book doesn’t need to make them awesome by making the men feeble or rape machines or mysogynistic. THE MEN ARE AWESOM TOO! Especially the leading guy… Ooooooh did I fall hard for him dammit. He understand the fine balance of tinkering with machines and enjoying a good cup of tea.
And in conclusion: WHAT A ROMP! I am utterly hooked
